Our home

We are looking for a house sitter to look after our two cats and house. We have a four bedroom house in central Amherst, about a 15 minute walk from downtown. (We are also about a 10-minute walk from Emily Dickinson's house - if you're a Dickinson fan!!). Amherst is a wonderful town and a great part of the country. And at this time of year, the foliage in the town and the surrounding area will be gorgeous!

An important piece of information is that one of our cats is diabetic. That means that he needs a shot twice a day. That sounds daunting, but it's actually pretty easy to do. Our teenage neighbor does it when we go away for a day or two. But you do need to be comfortable with needles and with giving him the shot. Previous experience with that is a big plus but definitely not a requirement!

Mostly we are looking for someone who loves cats, who will give our kitties lots of attention and cuddles while they are missing us! We'd also like you to take in the mail, water a plant or two, and just generally keep an eye on things. Non-smokers only.

We have two sweet cats. Michi is 11 and Francie is 9. They are both indoor cats and are pretty easy (other than the shot - see below). They need feeding, watering, scooping, and lots of cuddles.

It was a pleasure to sit for Francie and Michi. Francie loves laps and purring and while Michi took a while to warm up to us he also was a sweet cat. Michi was very easy to administer his twice daily shots to since he only focused on eating his treats when getting his insulin. Amy and Jamie went out of their way to make us feel welcome in their beautiful home. The home is very conveniently located in Amherst with shopping and dining options nearby. We recommend this sit.
I so enjoyed my sit with Michi and Franncie in Amherst. Amy, the homeowner, left great instructions and was readily available through texting, and her house was warm, comfortable and inviting. Being a college town, Amherst had everything that was needed, including a very nice rails-to-trails bike path. It only took a few days for her kitties to warm up to me while we settled into a nice routine. I highly recommend this sit to anyone.

I had a very pleasant stay house-sitting at Amy's home. I attended to general house responsibilities (e.g. taking out trash, collecting mail, shoveling the driveway & steps, etc.) and also cared for her two lovable, well-natured cats. Amy was an excellent communicator; she gave me superb directions on how to manage the house-sit. I really appreciated the level of detail she gave me in how to care for the home + cats.
