Our home

Hi there. I am a retired school teacher and love to travel. I often travel in my camper van with Barnabas, my cat, but need a cat loving, in home, involved sitter from time to time. Barnabas is almost dog like in his desire for interaction. He is not one to sleep away the day, but he also isn't a pest, bugging you all day.

I've lived in this neighborhood for over 20 years, love it, and am close with several neighbors. This very quiet, family neighborhood is in southwest Raleigh (almost Cary), walking distance to Lake Johnson pool and Lake Johnson, a 6 minute drive to the Farmer's Market, a 7 minute drive to NC State, and a 10 minute drive to downtown Raleigh's IMAX theatre, restaurants, etc.

My home has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and is approximately 1200 square feet. The sitter will stay in the designated guest room with adjoining full bath.

Barnabas is a sweet, friendly, and loving cat who is spoiled rotten. He definitely runs the house and my life, so I imagine he will expect you to let him continue in this way. This will be his first experience with a Sitter.
He has a microchip.
Walks: Barnabas expects to be harnessed and walked on leash twice daily, weather permitting. One walk for at least 10 minutes around the neighborhood. One walk requires him to be placed in his backpack carrier and carried about 8 minutes down to the lake on an uneven trail and then walked on his leash back to the house which takes about 15-20 minutes Additionally, he loves to hang out outside whenever possible with you or alone, but always on leash attached to the anchor, which can be moved around the yard.

Food: Easy peasy. Barnabas free feeds dry kibble, so just make sure his one bowl is full.

Water: Barnabas had two water bowls which should always have fresh water. One in the kitchen sink and one in the master bathroom sink.

Litter box: I use high end litter (Pretty Litter) so it's easy to clean. You only have to check the litter box twice a day.

Treats: 1 dental treat every morning. Treat ball every time you leave the house.

Mail: Bring in the mail daily

Garbage Can: Every Wednesday night to the street and brought back in on Thursday after emptied.
Recycle: can to street every other Wednesday night, brought in on Thursday when emptied.
Left Alone: It is OK for you to be gone 6-8 hours every other day at the most and up to 4 hours on the other days.

Communication: I've never left Barnabas with a Sitter, so I'll be a nervous Mama and will want daily updates on how he is doing and what he has been up to.

Barnabas is a fantastic cat who likes to be outside. You will be asked to put a harness on him and take him for quick walks and let him hang outside while tethered.
You don't have to supervise hime when he is tethered.
I live near a beautiful lake if you enjoy walking yourself.

Review

Fabulous location in an attractive neighborhood. Very clean & comfortable home. Eleanor is a superb host: welcoming & gracious. Best communications out of all my sits to date! Eleanor's 3YO cat, Barnabas, is sweet & active, yet quiet. Barnabas LOVES the outdoors, but needs a halter for a leash or lead. He was a bit shy about putting on his harness, but we got it done. This was a really great sit & I would be very pleased to return! Thank you!
