Our home

My house sits on a half acre outside of Yakima, surrounded by apple orchards and within the Naches Heights AVA (a biodynamic organic winery is just a mile away.) The yard is fully fenced for my two dogs, and there are lots of nearby trails for walks and hikes.
I have six raised beds with veggies and dahlias-by October they will need minimal care since they are on auto watering. Lawn may possibly need mowing once or twice, and indoor plant watering will be needed.

Additional home details-ranch style so all on one floor, two full bathrooms, deck and patio with hot tub, woodstove insert in living room (heat pump for A/C and heat.), reverse osmosis water filter for drinking water. There is a basement however it is full of many boxes that I keep telling myself I need to go through and clear out.

favoriteWhat we love about our area

I love this house and setting, it is so quiet and peaceful. There are no close neighbors, and road noise is minimal. I have several large trees and lots of birds, including hummingbirds that may still be here in October. At night stars are bright and coyotes can often be heard singing.

Two dogs, one senior (15) one middle-aged (8), both are easy to care for and require minimal exercise. They like to sleep and they like treats. They get most of their exercise in the fenced yard, and from short walks around the orchard roads. They are not candidates for long hikes but can be left alone in the house for 6-8 hours at a time so that you can take the time to explore the area.

Older dog just needs a carprofin tablet mixed in with her food, for joint pain.

Minimal - By October the yard will probably not need much work. I have raised bed that may still have produce and flowers that could be picked.

Delightful house and dog sitting experience. Janis is very organized and thorough. Detailed instruction/directions for the care of the two dogs and her home. Unique location amongst apple orchards yet just up the hill from all the conveniences and services one might need. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity and getting to know the two entertaining and sweet dogs. Thank you Janis.
Janis made sure everything was ready to care for her home and extended family while away. Maybelline simply wants to be loved while Baxter prefers laying in the sun all day (even though it was only for a few minutes) and they both smother you with affection. Walking with them was a reward as they were more about the smells then finding the "spot". Yard time together meant they enjoyed the cool mornings while I handle some gardening and removal of an invasive vine. A guest room with ... This was my first house sit on here and it was awesome. Janis is so sweet and so are Maybelline and Bixie the dogs. The house is surrounded by apple orchards and is beautiful. Janis could not possibly have been more organized and communicative. An awesome experience all around.
