Our home

Retired teacher looking for a house sitter who loves dogs. My dog Finley, 3 years old, is well trained. He walks well on leash.

Note I have one negative review on my previous dog Gunnar.

I have a new dog Finley, a black lab/mix that is three years old. He loves people and is well trained.

I have a 3 bedroom/ 1 3/4 bathrooms stucco home in the northeast heights about 1.5 miles from foot-hills. It has a remodeled kitchen and bathrooms. It is in a friendly neighborhood where several of us walk our dogs together.

The house sitting portion is to enjoy my home and leave it as it was when you arrived.

Darlene should not be allowed to bring house sitters in. She waits until you walk in the door to tell you that you will get bit and yes you will, it's a guarantee. You have to hand feed the dog (getting bit every time) because he doesn't listen to any commands. He does not like having Dar gone. The house is very hot with a swamp cooler that blows on a small spot of the hallway. Dar told me several times that she does not shower at her own house but she goes to the gym. She didn't seem to care that the internet went out for 4 days and I ended up trying to deal with provider which had me wait by the phone for 4 days. I left extremely stressed out.

I throughly enjoyed my sit for Darlene and Gunnar. Her house was clean and inviting and she made me feel welcome immediately. Gunnar was fun if a bit of a handful at times. I'm pretty sure it was just the getting used to me that produced that. By the end of a few days he was being a "very good dog". Darlene kept in close contact during the sit, which is always good. We had the good fortune to housesit for Darlene and her sweet boy Gunnar. Unfortunately, it was only for a few days, we would have loved to stay MUCH longer! Gunnar is such a good dog. He is a loving dog, a fantastic hiker, and playful yet respectful when you can't play. We loved cuddling with him and could have snuggled with him for hours. Our hikes with Gunnar were enriched by his hound nose that could spot wildlife from far away. When he spotted wildlife he was well behaved but he let you ... In addition to Gunnar being the greatest, his human, Darlene is a wonderful person and we hope we will remain friends with her. We would pet/housesit for Darlene and Gunnar any time and have already begun plotting our return. Thanks Darlene, you're the best!

What a wonderful house sit. Darlene is very accommodating and friendly. Her home sits in a quite neighborhood and is very warm. Lots of hiking trails in the area with a variety of restaurants close by. The cherry on top is her dog Gunnar. What a sweet wonderful being. If you love dog cuddles this is the place. I had a great time taking Gunnar hiking in the area. This is a wonderful sit for anyone looking to explore Albuquerque.

I spent a month in Albuquerque taking care of Darlene's home and her dog, Gunnar. I had such a great stay! Darlene is kind, friendly, and was so well prepared for my arrival that stepping in was very easy for me. And I really loved Gunnar! He was up for anything from walking around the neighborhood to going for a day hike up the mountain, but he was also just fine with napping wherever I was hanging out or playing fetch with his toy.
