favoriteWhy we love house sitting

We love the trust at the heart of house sitting and how it allows us to travel with purpose. Being welcomed into someone's home and asked to care for the pets they love most is a privilege and there is something deeply satisfying about making sure things run smoothly while the owners are away.

We married 14 years ago right after buying our first home in Seattle, where we've lived as responsible homeowners for the past 15 years. That experience has taught us what it really takes to look after a property well — from routine upkeep and troubleshooting the occasional surprise, to simply respecting a space and leaving it better than we found it.

Animals have been part of our lives for 25 years combined, starting well before we met. Lindsay grew up in a busy household with large dogs, cats, and chickens, learning early on how to read animal behavior and stay calm under pressure. Zachary brings the same instinct, along with hands-on experience giving medications and caring for elderly pets who need extra patience and a gentle touch.

Most recently, we said goodbye to our own dog, Wesley, a Yorkie who was part of our family for 16 wonderful years (yes, named after the hero in The Princess Bride). Caring for him in his senior years, including managing his medications and adjusting routines as his needs changed, gave us hands-on experience with the kind of attentive care that older pets and their owners deserve.

We thrive on routine and understand how much pets and homes benefit from consistency. We will follow your schedules, feeding instructions, and house rules closely. At the same time, we're genuinely flexible and comfortable adapting on short notice, whether that's an early arrival, a sudden schedule change, or a last-minute request. Now that we're semi-retired, we have the time and freedom to make that flexibility real, along with the desire to take on longer stays and travel to new cities and countries as house and pet sitters.

Communication is a big part of how we operate. We check in proactively, respond quickly, and send regular updates and photos so you can relax knowing exactly how your home and pets are doing. We're reliable, easygoing, detail-oriented, and genuinely happiest when there's an animal curled up nearby and a home to take good care of.
