I love so many things about house sitting and pet sitting! I’ve really loved meeting all the wonderful families and their amazing pets! Every sit is a new adventure.

Hello there! I am a mother of three adult children and one beautiful granddaughter who is 4. I’ve spent the last 26 years raising my children in Vermont. During that time, I worked for many nonprofits helping homeless youth, pregnant and parenting teens and spent 7 years as a Doula.
I have tons of experience with animals! I pretty much grew up on a farm surrounded by cows, goats, chickens, ducks, pigs, dogs, and cats. I also grew up riding horses. I have tons of experience with animals! I pretty much grew up on a farm surrounded by cows, goats, chickens, ducks, pigs, dogs, and cats. I also grew up riding horses. I was a foster parent for our local humane society while raising my kids. We fostered litters of puppies, cats, rabbits and many dogs. I’ve also had rescue dogs up until two years ago. I’ve attended many dog training classes and have done a ton of research on working with rescue animals.
I love living off grid but also enjoy the city as well. I see beauty in both. I love to hike in the woods, walk on the beach, explore rivers and ponds. I love to kayak, canoe or simply relax on a sunny dock reading. I’m a lover of gardening and yard work.
My youngest son graduated last year so I decided to leave my career, packed up my house and began traveling, camping and pet sitting. It’s been amazing!

Melanie is a gift! I feel extremely grateful to have chosen someone so caring, kind and cooperative. Since it's my first time ever having someone house sit, I checked a couple references first and recall one of them said "Melanie is exactly who she says she is." That left a strong impression on me. I agree wholeheartedly. Melanie has a wonderful zen energy. Right before I left, multiple issues manifested. She handled it all with grace and calm. I knew everything was in good hands and could ... Melanie did a great job taking care of our house, garden, and cat and chickens. Everything left neat as a pin; no worries.
Melanie was amazing yo have in our home for 10 nights. We have a pretty chill household but with a lot of animals and moving parts. Melanie handled them all well and left our fur babies feeling loved and not at all abandoned. I’m sure the dogs especially miss getting so much at home attention now that we are home. Our house was infinitely cleaner when we got home than it was when we left. It was so easy coming back after a long travel day and jet lag to just relax and not have to clean up. We ... Melanie is a wonderful sitter. To begin with, she is there when she says she will be there. She is easy to talk to, friendly, kind and interesting. I had no qualms leaving our doggie in her care. She indeed took very well care of both our muddles and our home. The only negative is that she doesn't live around the corner. Can't recommend Melanie enough.
John was amazing!! So kind and caring to our dog. Took great care of our home and very communicative. There was an unexpected snowstorm which delayed our flight home and he was able to stay a few extra days to care for our dog!! We’d have him back anytime. We really appreciate the sit! Thanks so much John!
Melanie was very communicative and my boys loved her! She stayed in tune with their energy and researched the questions she had about their breeds, as well as my parrot's breed. She is an early riser (4am) and tucked all of my animals into bed between 5 and 8 pm. An awesome and creative low-key sitter!
John and Melanie have been great with our dog. The house was very clean when we came back, and they sent us updates and photos every day. They are amazing!
John and Melanie were fantastic house sitters! I couldn’t ask for a smoother or easier house care. My cat, Sasha, was very well taken care of, communication was great, and my apartment left is even cleaner than I left it! I highly recommend John and Melanie to other pet owners looking for responsible sitters.
John and Melanie are amazing -- just ask our poodle Rufus, who took to them immediately and seemed slightly disappointed when we returned from our trip. John and Melanie also left the house in immaculate shape, better organized than when we departed, and provided daily pictures and updates full of humor and affection. Highly recommended!
