My name is Mason. I am a proud and loving father of 4 adult daughters who are out making their way in the world. I am retired after 20 years working as a Nutrition Director in school districts in Kern County. As such I have passed full background checks. I am also a Veteran. I am professional, reliable and trustworthy. I am a cat Dad to a beautiful rescue Lynx Point Siamese names Smokey. She was a godsend in December 2021 as I lost 4 family members in 2022 (sister, nephew, father and former mother-in-law). Smokey was my therapy companion throughout the rough times that followed. I fully understand how precious our animals are to us and I will treat your pets/animal family members with the love and care I give Smokey. I am a homeowner and very responsible. I will treat your home as your sanctuary and care for it while you are away. i am also very clean, quiet and considerate, so your neighbors will have no issues.
Why would I want to be a house sitter? One reason is for the past 30 years living in Bakersfield,CA I spend most of my time indoors from June - September when temperatures range between 95-115, with mots days over 100. So I thought this would be a great opportunity to get some time out of the heat and experience what life is like in the summer where it may be cooler. Also this is an opportunity for me to see parts of California and perhaps other states that I wouldn't normally see.
If you choose me you can rest assured your home and any family pets you may have will be lovingly cared for so you can enjoy your time away with no cares or concerns about your home and pet(s).
Besides my cat, I have experience with hamsters, parakeets, garter snakes and I bred and kept newts (amphibians) for years.
This feels like the place where I raise my hand like a grade school kid and say "ooh pick me, pick me". I do hope you will consider choosing me.
PS - I am a non smoker and do not drink alcohol.

We are delighted we found our new friend, Mason! He is extremely conscientious and took great care of our kitty, home, garden, and car. We got to spend a whole day with him prior to our trip due to a flight cancellation and it was wonderful getting to know him. He sent us daily updates on our kitty. We picked him because he has his own cat and understands cats are not just little dogs. Happily we came home to relaxed kitty. And yes, he likes to clean and left the house in great condition. He ... Mason was great with our house, and absolutely amazing with our cat Ollie while we were away for 2 weeks. We got daily pictures of a very happy snuggly cat - she looked so comfortable with Mason, and that's all we were hoping for. Meeting Mason was the best thing that could have happened to our family! He drove several hours to spend a week at our condo and tend our kitty. He communicated well, and so we knew he would be reliable and come when expected. We were delighted to have Mason come the evening before we left, so that we could familiarize him with our cat’s routine, e.g., bedtime snack. Although our cat was at first scared of the stranger, Mason was very patient with her. He checked in with us several times, so ... Mason was amazing. I couldn't have asked for a more attentive and hands on house sitter. He stayed at my place for 2 weeks and looked after my home and my cat Charlie while I was on vacation. Not only did he provide me with consistent updates as I asked, but he also took the time to thoroughly deep clean my house better than I have ever done. Granted I expected the home to be clean as I left it, but he went above and beyond the call of duty and spent hours making my home sparkle upon my return. ... MoreMason was amazing.
