favoriteWhy I love house sitting

I have the opportunity to see new places and learn and do new things. Then there's the bonus of caring for a garden if applicable, or enjoying your pets. I am quite content to sit and read or crochet with a dog or cat by my side.

I'm a widow and retired teacher. I have been sitting through this and another site for two years now. I enjoy the travel and meeting new people and making new bonds. I have been fortunate to be asked back to several of my sits and I love that. I'm also ready to expand my radius to include new fur babies and their persons, see more of the southeast and Atlantic coastline.

I love nature and science, gardening, reading, and crocheting. I'm very fond of cats, but have cared for dogs, horse, pet rodents, birds, and lizards. My uncle had a small dairy farm and in my teen years I milked cows and fed chickens and pigs. My goal is to use this as an opportunity to see new places while helping someone else in return. I'm in remission from cancer and realize life is too short to watch the world go by.

I will treat your home and pets as if they were my own. I am a tidy person and mostly well organized. I look forward to hearing from you!

Raiona is a frequent flyer at our place. She takes excellent care of our home and garden, and most especially my precious orchids! She has the touch, because they bloom like crazy when she’s here. We’re always glad to confirm a sit with Rai.

Rai is now our go-to house sitter. My orchids love her and flower when she’s here. She keeps track of the birds in the neighborhood, and lets us know who she’s spotted. The gal next door looks forward to going out to lunch with Rai. She takes great care of our place and has gotten the knack of life in the country. 😊

We ALL loved having Rai back to "kittensit" here in Athens. Tiger and Grizzy got their fill of good lovin' and our home and garden looked great upon return. And, we were able to enjoy our time away with great confidence that all was being managed well. The kitties actually looked a little sad the next day after she left when they didn't hear Rai talking to them with some sweet petpets and her lap wasn't available for napping. They're in luck though as we've already booked her for a long ... MoreWe ALL loved having Rai back to "kittensit" here in Athens. Raiona was a wonderful sitter. Our Beagle Molly loved her. My garden was cared for, our home was spotless upon our return. The communication with Rai was on a regular basis. I have nothing but good things to say regarding this lady. She ticked all the boxes. I’d love to have Raiona sit our Molly again & again if she were available.
Well, now we've done it... I come home, Raiona leaves, and now Ernie won't even give me the time of day. He was well-fed, loved, and (apparently) brushed repeatedly while Raiona stayed here with Big Ern. The house was spotless when I got back, the catnip plant was watered, and everything seemed like the two of them didn't even need me here. On top of that, Raiona checked in every couple of days, sending a pic or two so I could keep up with the boy. She's welcome to stay here again - all she has ... MoreWell, now we've done it... I come home, Raiona leaves, and now Ernie won't even give me the time of day. He was well-fed, loved, and (apparently) brushed repeatedly while Raiona stayed here with Big Ern. It was our pleasure to have Rai return for a second sit. She gives our kitties, Tiger and Grizzy, so much loving attention and takes such good care of our home- AND we loved building in time to spend with her ourselves once we got home. I know the kitties will miss her--until she returns again in January.- YAY! We're ALL looking forward to that! We will also be looking to plan some more trips to keep her coming back! A true GEM!

We SO enjoyed our time with Rai the night before we left with good conversation and shared stories. We appreciated that she arrived having reviewed our instructional manual making training so easy and allowing us to feel so confident in our decision. The kitties were comfortable with her that first evening and then photos and texts indicated they were very happy to have her there loving on them. Communication was great before, during and afterwards and we arrived home to find a house looking ... And, it seems rain kept her from being sweet to voluntarily pull the many weeds in our garden. We are very hopeful to have Rai back here to take good care of our kitties and our home with the bonus of getting to spend more time with her. Rai is a gem!

I heartily recommend Rai for your housesit. Even though she is early in her house sitting career, she has plenty of life experience and cared for our home as if it were her own. My orchids were just beginning to bloom when we left for our five week trip, and Rai sent photos several times so I wouldn’t miss out on their beauty. She is a great communicator and very personable. I enjoyed her company and will surely have her back another time!
