I do prefer housesits of at least 2-3 wks or more whenever possible, espec those with longer drives. I am open to considering sits in any region of the US ... depending on my current location of sits, length of stay and amount of travel needed.

Hi, my name is H (yes, just the letter!) and I’ve been house- and pet-sitting since 2001, mainly in Florida, Colorado and Arizona tho I'm now based mainly out of the Washington DC area. While I’m newer to this particular site, I bring decades of experience caring for homes and animals.

I give priority to paid sits because they help support my minimal lifestyle and travel expenses. I especially love opportunities where there are pickleball courts nearby – I play daily when possible, and it’s become an important part of my well-being and joy.

I live quietly and healthfully, am very clean and conscientious, and absolutely love animals. Alongside sitting, I do remote contract work (web, tech and graphic projects), so all I need is a good internet connection in a clean abode. I’m happy to provide references from recent clients and/or meet on Zoom to connect. (Recent fur babies I’ve cared for are shown in my photos.)

A bit of extra info: I’ve included my schedule below to make it easy to see when/where I’m available. I usually drive to sits – especially longer ones – but I do fly on occasion, mostly back to Florida since that’s where my storage unit is located.

Read moreI began dog sitting in Boulder, CO in 2000, and through referrals was soon caring for pets regularly while working remotely. I also had sits in Florida and Arizona, enjoying the chance to blend travel with pet care. In 2010, I joined Ironman and worked on the triathlon race circuit until 2020. When events shut down, I was again asked to house- and pet-sit — something I’ve never had to seek out. Since joining this site, I’ve been fortunate to sit for many cats and dogs, along with two older beautiful horses. I’ve also cared for rabbits and fish on occasion ... and a resident raccoon! Caring for pets and homes has been a steady thread in my life, bringing joy, purpose and meaningful connections wherever I go.

H was amazing! From coming early so that we could meet, introduce her to pets and house sitting duties, etc, it was obvious that she is extremely thoughtful and responsible. She provided excellent communication, sent pictures, and updates almost daily. H also took time to troubleshoot a washing machine problem, and went out of her way to find a repair person to fix it. H. is extremely trustworthy, and I will definitely check in with her next time a trip comes up. Thank you, H. for your ... MoreH was amazing! This is the second time H has pet sat & house sat for us. She is very communicative with regular pictures and updates of our 2 cats. She texted us when she thought there was an important piece of mail. Our house was in perfect condition when we returned! She is patient and kind and was at our house in the midst of our renovations (the renovations were paused during her stay). We felt very at ease with H at our house and we would absolutely ask her to return again!
H did an absolutely fantastic job sitting our three little 'angels'. She made friends with each of them quickly ~ she's a natural with cats. She took our oldest cat, Zen, on walks each day and played with them all in the house. H kept the house spotless, so when we returned home, you couldn't tell that we had been gone for five days. She maintained good contact/communication with us while we were gone including pictures every day. I can't say enough good things about her and we will gladly ... H was an absolute dream! She took great care of my 3 cats and my home while I was away. The kitties absolutely LOVED her and she send me many photos of them relaxing on her lap and enjoying their time being cared for. She did everything and more to take care of the house and cats. Will defintiely contact her for more sits inn the future!
H is the best! We have a problem child kitty who requires a lot of patience and behavior management and she was wonderful with him. It was really great to go out of town and not worry about him and our other cat. Our house was also totally cleaner after her stay than when we left it! Highly recommend H and am super grateful for her help!
Aww, thank you! Problem child kitty took a little extra care and workarounds but I threw a little extra love at him ... we worked thru each time something came up!
We can’t begin to say how great it was to have H in our house looking after our dogs! We got to spend a day with her before we left on our trip, and we were actually sorry to leave her! She is a genuinely kind person who inspired trust in us immediately, and our dogs loved her right away too (even the one who’s usually a curmudgeon!) When we came home after 6 weeks away, our dogs were happy and healthy, our house was immaculate, and our plants were healthier than they were when we left. This ... H is a gem. She did not know how to care for horses, so she came for 2 days a couple weeks before the sit and learned what to do. She then came another day early for a refresher. She did an excellent job - even learned how to blanket the horses during some cold spells. She texted me every day and sent pics so i never had to worry about how my babies were doing, My cats loved her so much, they spent hours in her lap. My dog was happy, too, going out to the barn with her every day.. H ... MoreH is a gem.
