I love having furry companions along my travels and meeting new clients, exploring new places! I think it's a unique and needed service to offer to pet parents or just home owners without pets who want a presence at home for peace of mind while we all are traveling.

RE: YOUR PETS
1) What are their habits, feeding schedules, and are these times are set/firm, or flexible? *Please be specific* vs. general ("EX: 6-7am" vs. just "in the morning")

2) Where do they sleep overnight? (are they flexible with their norms, or not?)

3) How often they need to go out for potty breaks? Do you have a fenced yard? Are there pet doors?

4) If you have dogs to be walked, tell me about those needs (frequency, length, etc.) Also, how they are on leash (Do they pull? Dog/people friendly on walks/squirrel reactive? (etc.)

RE: YOU & THE HOME
5) What time you'll leave the home and return from your trip. Are the dates listed in the ad firm or approximate?

6) Please add photos to your ad of the living areas accessible to the sitter (dining room/kitchen, TV room, and guest room to give me an idea of your space, your outdoor areas, too, and YOU! (whatever is not already in your ad). You'll see I've included lots of my own pics in this spirit. Sits without these photos will not be considered (would you invite a sitter who had no or very few photos in their profile, and none of themselves?)

ABOUT ME:

Sitting helps me travel a bit, while still working, and see new places at a slower pace than a shorter full vacation trip would allow.

Like you, it’s equally important to me that we find a good match. It can be daunting for home owners to invite a new sitter into their home to care for their pets I'm sure.

I get it! Sitters actually feel the same about coming into a stranger’s home.

It’s an exercise in mutual trust and consideration to be sure!

I've met some wonderful pet owners (and pets!) doing this - I hope you may be the next one!

For me, in a nutshell, I value in pet owners what I strive to provide in turn:
--clear, timely communication,
-- clean home upon arrival by you/departure by me, and
--a partnership approach of equals

WHAT I OFFER – ABOUT ME:

** I've owned a home independently for 17 years. I care for yours not as mine, but as YOURS -- as you request and with the extra special care and concern I believe one should give when responsible for other people's pets & property.

**Friendly, down to earth, & conscientious, I've been told I put animals at ease

**I have many repeat pet/housesits over many years, the ultimate compliment

** I love cats AND dogs, and have a good amount of experience with both

** Responsible, professional, service oriented - I have an online business

** Yes, I do have my own reliable car.

My background is in education and customer service supervisory roles (which means I'm collaborative, and/or, will make a quick independent decision/take action, depending on the situation)

I'm not just an animal lover that likes to travel (though I am also those things), I treat this with the same professionalism as my other business clients, with a personal touch.

** Non-smoker, no drugs. No drinking also fine, no problem

** Clean, neat, detail-oriented. All will be in order as you left it, or better, when you return

** Plant/pool care/etc. all fine. Yard care: probably fine, please share details & we can discuss

** Questionnaire/ checklist provided! I use this to gather vital info and instructions, which many clients have commented impressed them and was very useful.

I work online from home. This means:

1) I'm home a lot (usually seen as a good thing/bonus).
2) I do need reliable, faster than not internet access with unlimited data (or high limits)
3) By chance, do you have any office chairs or soft seat chairs? (not a deal breaker, just a bonus!)

15 years pet/house sitting in 7 states plus Europe, for cats & dogs mostly, but also a few birds, some fish, once a couple of pastured horses. I'm fairly open to most critters.

Oral and topical medicine administration is fine, older animals, puppies, various health issues/idiosyncrasies, etc etc, all will be considered, I have a lot of experience that runs most gamuts! Let's discuss your pet's needs.

Plants, pool care, some yard work, etc. should be just fine though please share details upfront so we can be sure.

My NO's are: snakes, needles (I can't inject meds, so sorry) and interior cameras.

Goats, maybe? I haven't had exposure (yet)...

I really enjoy the quiet, beauty, and privacy of rural locations, so let's discuss your set up and needs.

Leaving your home & pets in the care of a virtual stranger can be a very intimidating proposition. We really hit the jackpot when we connected with Shannon. We have now engaged her for 2 long multi-week trips and several shorter trips. Her level of professionalism is stellar. Communication is excellent before and during the sit. Shannon was a wonderful sitter and I wholeheartedly recommend her! We needed someone at short notice to stay with our cats and she stepped right in and exceeded our expectations. She communicated well, giving us updates daily and asking questions when needed. We were so very lucky to have Shannon watch our house and dog Rosie while away for 5 weeks. Shannon is a experienced pet sitter and knows exactly what needs to be communicated. She is very thorough, speedy to respond and made us feel very at ease leaving our home and dearest pet in her hands. Shannon is also a lovely lady, she gets along great with our dog and was happy to follow along with any specific wishes we had. This was our first time to use House Sitters America, so we were a little apprehensive. Shannon completely dispelled all our reservations. When we returned, our old cats were healthier, calmer and in a better frame of mind than when we left. It's as if Shannon is a "cat whisperer". She also left our home in better order than when we left it. Shannon is a "home/pet sitter extraordinaire". If she can fit you in her schedule, she's the one.

What an outstanding sitter! Shannon was in communication with me from beginning to end. She asked how often and how much information I wanted during the sit, and gave me exactly that. It took her almost no time to befriend my normally shy cat, who, judging from the photos I saw, adored her. She left the house cleaner than she found it. In short, she made my vacation completely worry-free. I would recommend her to anyone.
Shannon is a superb 5 star house sitter, absolutely blew our expectations away and provided a true worry free experience. My wife and i deploy overseas regularly and shannon took care of our home for over 6 months and took excellent care of our cat. If the cat needed vet services or anything shannon used our contact info we had left and setup all appointments and handled everything professionally. She maintained constant communication with us and sent us photos of our cat and home routinely ...
