i am a proud born-&-bred lifelong nyc resident who is now a full-time international nomad! at this juncture, i have decided to housesit in preparation of expatriating from the US permanently.

i value direct, clear communication so i am set up to successfully care for pets & homes. this means being provided feeding schedules, vet contacts, and detailed house care info. details one may take for granted as a homeowner, i value dearly since i don't center assumptions.

it's also absolutely vital for me to stay in a clean house. my expectation is that a house will be clean before my arrival and i will leave it as it was found in line with the instructions given.

trust is of utmost importance in this professional relationship, which is how i view this endeavor.

for my part, i offer reviews via my other platforms, references, background checks & interviews with lots of questions to vouch for my character & care. however, if one lives a life of being suspicious of others, assumes the worst of people, and doesn't see this relationship as an equal one in which both parties must feel safe and respected, i suggest seeking a better suited sitter.

it is important for me to have clear boundaries & expectations with a homeowner. i use a binding housesitting agreement to be modified as needed and signed by both parties.

additionally, as i am traveling as a single black woman, it is important for me to know that i will be treated with respect during a housesit. i'm a new yorker, & comfortable & safe literally any & everywhere. but i have had instances in which a homeowner didn't let me know that their neighbors would be watching me or be suspicious of me simply because of their own biases & projections. to not let me know this in advance is not displaying the respect that i offer, expect and most importantly have for myself.

finally, kindness and grace -- which inform all of my interactions -- are central. space for mistakes and humanity, with the belief that each of us is doing our personal best is vital for me.
