Laura & Eldon

This summer we are looking for short house sits in Maine. For the winter 0f 2024, we would welcome longer house sits in coastal South Carolina, Georgia or Florida. Maybe Hawaii? Virgin Islands?

Laura is a retired not-for-profit manager, having worked in the arts, tourism industry and social services. She loves large breed dogs (has owned two German Shepherds) and is a crazy cat lady, just minus the 99 cats. She loves animals and nature, enjoys traveling, yoga and sharing the love of reading as the steward of a Little Free Library.

Eldon has had careers in the energy industry and government and has retired from his business. His interests include reading, travel, golf and serving on volunteer organizations. He enjoys many genres of music and collects anything by Bob Dylan, but please don't hold that against him:) Eldon adores cats and seems to be something of a cat magnet.

Laura is an American/Canadian dual citizen. Eldon is just a plain old Canadian.

We are non-smokers, calm, neat and tidy folks who appreciate a clean and organized home.

We are both fully vaxxed and boosted and trust that you are being safe too.

Cats rule in our household. Sadly, we lost our beloved ginger tabby but a long-haired, green-eyed beauty soon arrived and is currently running the estate.

We are homeowners with a lifetime of experience caring for homes and pets. We also engage house sitters while we travel so we understand the concerns of homeowners in having capable, kind and trustworthy people to care for their prized possessions. You can be assured that your home and privacy will be respected.

We provide companionship for your pets. Although we enjoy exploring whatever the area has to offer, we are homebodies at heart. We are just as happy to curl up with a good book, a big cup of tea and a furry critter or two nearby. We will follow your pets' routines and provide all the attention, walkies, playtime, love and snuggles that they can stand! If the pet usually sleeps with you, we expect to have a footwarmer at bedtime.

Getting to know your pets is the fun part of our vacations. So far in our 19 house sitting adventures, we have had the pleasure of caring for 13 dogs, 28 cats, an hilarious African Grey Parrot and a few fishies. In addition to the positive reviews on this site, we have many more we would be happy to share with you.

We are reliable. When we commit to your dates, you can depend on us to arrive on time so you can depart on schedule.

We believe that good communications are essential for a successful house sit. We will be pleased to keep in touch with daily updates and photos so you can see how your pets are adjusting to their new friends. We are committed to making your time away from home worry-free.
